KORAIL has accumulated extensive experience in railway operations, traffic management, maintenance, training, project management, systems engineering, and technical advisory services. KORAIL’s Involvement
KORAIL is involved in the Ulaanbaatar Metro Project not as a main construction contractor, but as a member of the consulting / project management consortium. More specifically, in June 2024, a consortium consisting of KORAIL, Korea National Railway, Dohwa Engineering, and Soosung Engineering was selected as the preferred bidder for the project management services of the Ulaanbaatar Metro Project. This consortium will be involved in the project from the preliminary/basic design stage through contractor procurement, construction supervision, testing and commissioning preparation, and ultimately the handover to the future operating company.
Within the framework of the Ulaanbaatar Metro Project, KORAIL is a partner institution with substantial experience in railway operations and service delivery, and it is well positioned to provide valuable guidance on future operational readiness, operator capacity building, training, and the planning of the operations and maintenance (O&M) system. In addition, KORAIL is also implementing a project in Mongolia for the construction of an integrated train control center.
